It’s #MotivationalMonday & #LAWTF is celebrating L It’s #MotivationalMonday & #LAWTF is celebrating Lea Salonga, a legendary performer with a nearly 50-year career. This month marks 35 years since her Broadway debut, & we’re excited to share a snapshot of her amazing life & history-making career. 🎭👑 Born & raised in the Philippines, Lea made her professional debut at age 7. By the time she was 17, she’d appeared in 5 films, 4 more stage productions, released 2 albums, hosted her own TV show, finished her primary & secondary education, passed the National College Entrance Examination & continued pre-med at Ateneo de Manila University. 😮‍💨 It’s safe to say that Lea brings a whole new meaning to being ‘hard-working’! 💪 Her international debut & breakthrough role came when Lea was cast as Kim in the first ‘Miss Saigon’ production in London’s West End. Her staggering performance won her the Olivier Award for Best Actress, making her one of the youngest recipients of the award & the first Asian actress to win in a leading category. She was also the first Asian woman to win the equivalent Tony Award after ‘Miss Saigon’ moved to Broadway in 1991. While building her musical theatre legacy, Lea’s voice became iconic for generations around the world as she lent her perfect pitch to the singing voices of 2 Disney Princesses: Princess Jasmine & Fa Mulan. She was the first Southeast Asian woman to sing as a Disney Princess and the only person to voice 2 Disney Princesses. Named a Disney Legend in 2011, she was the first Southeast Asian woman to be inducted. 👑🎶 Alongside making musical theater history & being a Disney icon, Lea also advocates for multiple causes, including reproductive rights, gender-based violence & is a fierce champion of LGBTQ+ rights. She says, as a proud parent of an LGBTQ+ child, “Just love your kids and be proud that they are brave enough to fight for who they are.” 🌈 Lea Salonga’s list of credits could fill a dozen playbills, and then some, but talent alone does not make someone a legend. The way she approaches her professional career & personal values with open arms and an open heart is as uplifting as the highest note her golden voice can reach. 💛✨ #WomenInTheArts #LeaSalonga

It’s the first #MotivationalMonday of March, and a It’s the first #MotivationalMonday of March, and a new season is in the air! To match the joys of Spring, #LAWTF has chosen musical theater star Sutton Foster, who brings an irresistible sense of artistic joy to every new challenge. 💐 Born in Georgia, Sutton grew up a creative & outgoing child, taking part in a variety of local theater groups & productions, quickly finding herself drawn to musical theater for its blend of disciplines. After appearing on the TV talent show ‘Star Search’ at just 15, Sutton later attended Carnegie Mellon University for a year before choosing to pursue a full-time professional career, honing her craft by touring & working in resident productions. A fruitful choice, as between ’95 and the year 2000, Sutton performed in productions including ‘Grease,’ ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel,’ ‘Annie’ & ‘Les Misérables’ on tour & on Broadway. 🎶 Her breakthrough came when she originated the role of Millie Dilmount in ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie.’ Receiving rave reviews, Sutton won the 2002 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical & no one would’ve guessed that she’d only taken over the role of Millie 9 days before previews began! 🏆✨ Sutton’s second Tony for Best Actress came in 2011, when she portrayed Reno Sweeney in the Broadway revival of ‘Anything Goes’. Yet again, her performance received outstanding acclaim. Her charisma, comic timing & sheer stamina were labeled as “show-stopping”, and her tenure as Reno Sweeny is considered by many to be a career-defining role. 🎭🚢 As well as her amazing stage & screen career, Sutton loves to speak on the positive impacts of access to the arts. Forever grateful to the educators who helped her find an outlet and a place of belonging in the arts, Sutton is passionate about giving others that same chance. Sutton Foster has performed some of the most classic roles in musical theater history. Just as enduring as the parts she plays is the effervescent, joyful energy she brings to every stage & set. Whether tap dancing in London’s West End or belting out a ballad on Broadway, Sutton is a shining example of how living & working with hope is as much a discipline as anything else we train for. 💜✨ #SuttonFoster
