Who’s ready for another #MotivationalMonday to bri Who’s ready for another #MotivationalMonday to brighten up our week? Today’s #SHEro is a ray of literal sunshine & trailblazing actress & singer… give it up for Ali Stroker!👏 Born in 1987, Ali Stroker grew up with her parents & older brother in New Jersey. She was just 2 years old when a car accident led to a spinal injury that paralyzed Ali from the chest down. However, with the help of occupational, physical & speech therapy, Ali proved she was a fighter & was released from the hospital after just 6 months.❤️‍🩹 Becoming a wheelchair user at such a young age, Ali didn’t let her injury hold her back. She began performing musical theater at age 7 & participated in musical productions throughout school. In 2009, Ali became the first wheelchair user to graduate with a degree in Fine Art from New York University (NYU) Tisch Drama program.🧑‍🦼 After appearing in ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,’ plus her first guest appearances onscreen in shows like ‘Glee’ & ‘Faking It,’ Ali made her Broadway debut in the 2015 revival of ‘Spring Awakening,’ becoming the first wheelchair user in history to appear on a Broadway stage.🎭 In 2018, Ali took on the role of Ado Annie in the classic musical ‘Oklahoma!’ Critics adored her take on the role, praising her reinvention of the character from a standard soprano ingénue into a modern, sex-positive woman, with killer vocals & a magnetic presence. She won Best Featured Actress in a Musical for the role in 2019, making her the first wheelchair user to win a Tony & the first disabled person, period, to be nominated for & win that specific category.🏆 It feels like there isn’t a glass ceiling Ali Stroker hasn’t taken on at full speed & shattered for disabled performers everywhere. Knowing the liberating power of art, she’s spent her life redefining what people think when they see a performer, or a person with a visible disability, or any combination of the two. Ali is committed to motivating whole new generations of disabled performers, letting them know in no uncertain terms that they don’t need to change their bodies to succeed or be powerful; we are all more than enough, just as we are.💜💪 #LAWTF #WomenInTheArts

Whether you want to share your own experiences, learn the art of solo performance, or connect across generations, this workshop is for you. 🗓️ When (Dates have changed): Saturdays, September – November (Time: 2 PM – 4 PM) 📍 Where: North Hollywood, CA 💡 What: A creative space to craft your voice, build confidence, and share your story.
