What better way to celebrate the first #Motivation What better way to celebrate the first #MotivationalMonday in August than with a woman making her Broadway debut on this very day? Join #LAWTF as we congratulate & celebrate Disney icon and very-soon-to-be Broadway leading lady, China Anne McClain!🎭 McClain comes from a family of performers. Her dad is a music producer, her mom is a songwriter & former screenwriter, and her siblings are all multi-hyphenate creatives in their own right. China was just 7 years old when a music executive heard her sing & urged director Rob Hardy to audition her for his film ‘The Gospel.’ Less than a year later, she was cast in Tyler Perry’s ‘House of Payne’ as Jazmine, a role she then played for 20 years! In the late 2000s, she also appeared in projects such as ‘Hannah Montana’ & ‘NCIS.’🎬 In 2011, China was cast as the lead for the Disney Channel series ‘A.N.T. Farm.’ In fact, creator Dan Signer suited the show & role specifically with China’s musical talent in mind. She sang, composed & co-wrote the show’s theme song & her cover of Taio Cruz’s song ‘Dynamite,’ recorded for the pilot episode, got over a million views in a matter of days. In more recent years, China’s time as the fierce & fabulous Uma in Disney’s ‘Descendants’ movies has seen her become a fan favorite among the franchise, with her character’s debut number, ‘What’s My Name,’ deemed by critics & fans alike as one of the best songs in the films & China’s singing lauded as “scene-stealing.”🎶 Those powerhouse vocals & innate musical ability will no doubt serve her well as she makes her Broadway debut later this evening, taking over the role of Daisy Buchanan in ‘The Great Gatsby’ from musical theater star & previous #MotivationalMonday spotlight, Eva Noblezada! Her casting was met with a buzz of enthusiasm from fans, with China herself saying she was “so excited” at the opportunity. China Anne McClain may have been born with an innate gift for performing, but the work ethic evident from a very young age is nothing short of mind-blowing, making her not only a role model to her fans but also the younger talents she works with. #LAWTF hope that she & all her fellow cast members break a leg tonight!💫 #WomenInTheArts

It’s the last #MotivationalMonday of July & who be It’s the last #MotivationalMonday of July & who better to close out the month and lead us towards #VirgoSeason than the one and only Keke Palmer?! An actress, singer, writer & producer, she can light up a stage or screen just like a midsummer’s sun.🌅 Born in Illinois, Palmer took her first steps as a performer by singing in church, where she wowed congregants from an early age. The jump from church stage to the silver screen came quickly for Palmer, landing her first movie role alongside Queen Latifah at just 10 & signing to Atlantic Records only a year later, in 2005. Often considered her breakout role, Palmer played the lead in ‘Akeelah and the Bee’ in 2006, holding her own opposite veteran costars Angela Bassett & Laurence Fishburne. The film as a whole, about a young girl from South LA who tries to win a national spelling bee, and in turn, Palmer as its lead, won the hearts of audiences everywhere.🐝 Since then, Palmer has appeared in an impressive array of roles & projects. Most recently, after costarring in Jordan Peele’s ‘Nope,’ Palmer was praised by critics for her charismatic, grounded & deeply magnetic screen presence.🎬 Alongside acting, Palmer has continued singing, written & released two bestselling books, and been an ever-present force in today’s internet lore & culture. Palmer has always been recognized for her vivacious personality and how she balances both eloquence & hilarity in many of her interviews. But she’s also known for using her powerful voice to share her own struggles in an effort to help others around her. She has openly discussed the physical & mental toll of living with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (formerly PCOS) and is a constant & fierce advocate for better medical recognition & care for women. Keke Palmer is a force of nature, both on and off the screen; able to chameleonize herself to whatever a role demands, then step right back into her true self without missing a beat. Her sense of humor & comedic timing is matched only by her intellect & ability to verbalize her points of view.
