This dancer presents two traditional Kathak Indian dances which pay homage to 14th Century compositions.

Sona Lewis is a Kathak dance performer, choreographer, and government contractor-instructor with the CRPD.ORG, Thousand Oaks, CA. Kathak dance is over 2,000 years old, is one of the prominent classical dances of India and it translates to “storytelling”. The dancer presents rhythmic movements, footwork, expressions and tells stories through dance. This dance was often performed transcending language and other barriers, aimed to bring communities together, express ideas beyond words and connect with self and others, celebrate festivals as well as for grief support. Sona has spent her lifetime working on this art; she was professionally trained in Kathak under renowned President of India award recipient Guru Munna Shukla, India for over 15 years. Sona actively conducts Kathak workshops, lectures, develops choreographies, and continues to perform and teach in the greater Los Angeles area with the purpose of sharing joy of Kathak.
