We can’t finish October without a #MotivationalMon We can’t finish October without a #MotivationalMonday dedicated to a certified #ScreamQueen! Join #LAWTF as we close out #SpookySeason with the one & only, Sarah Paulson! Sarah first started performing in middle school plays before she auditioned for & was accepted into the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts. After graduating, Paulson began working professionally quickly, making both her Broadway & TV debut in 1994: as an understudy in a production of ‘The Sisters Rosensweig’ & as a guest on ‘Law & Order.’✨ Over the years, Sarah has developed a reputation for being a fearless, intensely emotional & versatile actress. Some of her best-known work stems from her ongoing creative bond with writer, director & producer Ryan Murphy. Beyond playing over 10 different characters in 15 years on the hit show ‘American Horror Story,’ Sarah has collaborated with him on multiple other projects, including ‘American Crime Story,’ which earned her an Emmy Award.🏆 On the stage, Sarah has appeared in Tennessee Williams’s ‘The Glass Menagerie’ & Donald Margulies’s ‘Collected Stories.’ After a 10-year hiatus, Sarah returned to Broadway in 2023 as Toni in Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’s ‘Appropriate,’ which won her the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She is also due to appear in ‘Small Mouth Sounds’ in 2027, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello.🎭 As an openly queer woman, Sarah is a proud advocate for LGBTQ+ & human rights causes. In a particularly touching act of support in 2023, Sarah learned that there was only 1 movie theater in Dallas, Texas, that was screening the indie drama ‘Monica,’ starring transgender actress Trace Lysette. Though Paulson had no official ties to the project, she reached out to IFC Films & bought out every ticket for an entire day of screenings, allowing the local community to watch the film for free.🌈 And I think that’s an excellent point on which to end today’s post. A woman of immense talent & heart, going out of her way to support the work of others, help the community, and spread just a little more joy in a sometimes scary world.💜 #WomenInTheArts

#LAWTF is practically dancing with joy for this we #LAWTF is practically dancing with joy for this week's #MotivationalMonday! Kaycee Rice is only 23 years old, but this dancer, choreographer, model & advocate is already building an impressive career & following, and she’s done it all with talent & joy.💃 Born in California, Kaycee started dancing at age 4. At 10 years old, Kaycee went viral for the first time (of MANY to come), after Katy Perry tweeted a video of her hip hop solo ‘Werk’ from a dance competition.📳 After that, Kaycee’s career took off! At just 11, she performed with Pharrell Williams at the Oscars, was specifically chosen by the choreographer for the 2015 Super Bowl Halftime Show with Katy Perry & Missy Elliott, AND has worked with artists including Janet Jackson!🌟 In 2018, Kaycee competed with dance partner Sean Lew on NBC’s ‘World of Dance.’ They sadly missed out on a spot in the Grand Finale by 0.7 points, but even so, the duo became favorites of both the fans & judges, with Jennifer Lopez describing them as “poetry in motion.”📺 After ‘World of Dance,’ Kaycee stayed incredibly busy: taking & teaching classes, choreographing, collaborating, performing, with barely time to breathe, let alone rest. Kaycee believes that these feelings of being out of control & isolated were heavy contributing factors to why she developed an eating disorder. Over time, Kaycee has become more comfortable in opening up & advocating for not giving up on recovery. In an interview with mentor & choreographer Matt Steffanina, she emphasized that “recovery isn’t linear for anybody,” and that understanding that as a base concept is a great step on anyone’s individual road to healing.❤️‍🩹 Kaycee Rice may be at an objectively early point in her career, but the level of success she's already achieved & the unwavering commitment to her art she’s displayed is staggering. But equally important is how the whirlwind of early fame has given her insight, understanding & the ability to see the pitfalls of growing & living in the public eye. Kaycee’s affinity for dance and movement is matched only by her open-hearted nature and commitment to helping others find their footing on their own paths to recovery.💪💜 #WomenInTheArts
This #MotivationalMonday, we’ve chosen a woman who This #MotivationalMonday, we’ve chosen a woman who, now 80 years old as of yesterday, is still making headlines – both for her half-century-long career & an equally long track record of standing up for what she believes in. #LAWTF invites you to join us in celebrating producer, activist & award-winning actor, Susan Sarandon!🎭🎂 Sarandon was born in New York in 1946, the oldest of 9 children. In high school, she joined a group that performed for sick children in the hospital, appeared in multiple school productions & even got mentioned in local newspapers for her performances. From 1970, Susan began working on stage, did some modelling & began collecting roles across film & TV, notably appearing in 325 episodes of ‘A World Apart’ from 1970 to 1971. In 1975, Susan played Janet Weiss in cult favorite ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ AND starred opposite Robert Redford in ‘The Great Waldo Pepper.’ While the movies couldn’t be more different, critics consistently praise Susan’s performances as 2 of her best, bringing depth to women initially seen as mainly sensual roles.🎬✨ Over 5 decades & 182 acting credits, Susan has earned a reputation as a versatile, fearlessly intelligent, and emotionally authentic actor, bringing a grounding presence to complex female characters. Look no further than 1995’s ‘Dead Man Walking,’ where she plays a nun who becomes the spiritual advisor to a death row inmate. Her portrayal was lauded as "absorbing, surprising, [and] technically superb,” & earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress.🏆🫶 Away from her stellar work on the stage & screen, Susan is renowned for her activism, advocacy & absolute refusal to shy away from doing the right thing. She was made a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, received the Action Against Hunger Humanitarian Award, served on the advisory committee for 2004 Racism Watch, and is a fierce & active advocate of a Free Palestine.💪🌎 Susan Sarandon has spent over 50 years making amazing art & the best kind of trouble. She eptiomizes the understanding of the power a platform can provide. If great talent equals a greater responsibility to do what is right? Susan Sarandon is one of the best.💜 #WomenInTheArts
