Sona Lewis is a Kathak dance performer, movement artist, choreographer, and government instructor in Thousand Oaks, CA. Kathak dance is over 2,000 years old, is one of the prominent classical dances of India and it translates to “storytelling”. The dancer presents rhythmic movements, footwork, expressions and tells stories through dance. This dance is a medium to bring communities together, express, connect, celebrate festivals, as well as for grief and spiritual support. Sona has spent her lifetime working on this art; she was professionally trained in Kathak under renowned President of India award recipient Guru Munna ji, India for over 15 years. Sona actively conducts Kathak workshops, lectures, develops choreographies, and continues to perform and teach in the greater Los Angeles area with the purpose of sharing joy of unique art forms.
