SMILE is a piece that explores the daily masks of happiness we wear while wrestling with the inner voices that chip away at our confidence.
Marissa Mahoney is a multidisciplinary artist, dancer, performer, and choreographer based in
contemporary and modern dance practices. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography, a BA in Strategic Communications, and a minor in Creative Writing from Elon University. Her recent performance credits include HARVEST, the 2025/26 LADF MATCH Showcases, GREENLINE Dance, and Stories of My Life by Katie Covalt. She also creates multimedia work through her collective, RISSTHEMOVEMENT, whose choreography has been presented in LUME’s Desolation, San Pedro Festival of the Arts, Pasadena Art Night, PLAYSPACES, and Brockus’ 15 Year Choreography Contest, where it received the grand prize. Marissa is passionate about choreographic research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and arts education. She plans to pursue an MFA in Choreography and become a professor of dance, sharing her artistic voice with future generations.
