The Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival (LAWTF) marks 25 years of producing well over 500 extraordinary multicultural and multidisciplinary solo performers from around the globe.

The longest-running annual solo festival for women in Los Angeles, LAWTF will take place March 29- April 1, 2018 at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Hollywood and at the Electric Lodge in Venice. The theme of the Festival will be Legacy and Destiny.

The Champagne Gala and Awards Ceremony on March 29, 2018 will be held in honor of exceptional women who have made laudable contributions in theatre. This will be held at Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Barnsdall Park, 4800 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90027. There is free parking onsite. Following the reception at 6:30 p.m., the festivities continue at 8:00 p.m. with the recognition of retrospective honorees over the past 25 years.

The 25TH Anniversary Opening Night Gala on March 29 will be directed by Iona Morris (X-Men) and hosted by Hattie Winston (Becker) and Ted Lange (The Love Boat).  There will be special live performances in addition to the awards presentations, including entertainment by Juli Kim, who will perform her dance/performance art piece “Jaeng Gang Choom (Dance with Bells) ” Jaeng gang Choom is executed with bells tied around the dancer's wrists. As the dancer moves, the bells make the "Jaeng Gang" noises. Hence, the name. The dance is traditionally performed to celebrate the plentifulness of the Fall Harvest. Originated by one of the best known choreographers of Korea, Choi Seung Hee, and popularized in North Korea, the dance tells the story of vibrant women of Hwang Hae Island who in efforts to dominate and mesmerize the audience wore bells on their wrists or feet while clad in lovely, colorful costumes. Wendy Hammers "50 Shades of Gray Hair" In "50 Shades of Gray Hair" Hammers muses on the benefits of aging in this excerpt from her solo show, "RIPE". Her solo show, RIPE, which the LA Times described as "part stand up confessional; part booty shakin' biography, ripe is an examination of life re-invented midstream, and a reminder that the time to celebrate our bodies...and our lives...is right now", enjoyed a 7-city US tour.

The remainder of the Festival on Friday, March 30 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, March 31 at 3:00 and 8:00; and Sunday, April 1 at 3:00 p.m. will return to the Electric Lodge, 1416 Electric Avenue, Venice, CA 90291
