"50 Shades of Gray Hair"

In "50 Shades of Gray Hair" Hammers muses on the benefits of aging in this excerpt from her solo show, "RIPE". Her solo show, RIPE, which the LA Times described as "part stand up confessional; part booty shakin' biography, ripe is an examination of life re-invented midstream, and a reminder that the time to celebrate our bodies...and our lives...is right now", enjoyed a 7-city US tour.


Wendy Hammers is an actor, writer, storyteller, stand-up comic and producer. She has been curator and host of Tasty Words since 2001. They have produced over 100 diverse themed evenings and in residence at The Moss Theatre and The Garland. Hammers received two Drama-Logue  Awards: undressing new jersey (and other states of mind) and Chris Durang's Laughing Wild. undressing new jersey was chosen to be part of the Sacramento Theatre Company's International Solo Festival. Her solo show, RIPE enjoyed a 7-city U.S. tour. Last fall, Hammers was delighted to play "Val" in the world premiere of the Australian Theatre Company's Grey Nomad, for which she received a Broadway World Award for Best Featured Actor in a local production. Currently, she is rehearsing to play "Agnes" in Sarah Treem's When We Were Young and Unafraid at The New Works Theatre. Recently Hammers shared the stage with Wanda Sykes, Rosario Dawson, Marisa Tomei, and Jane Fonda in a benefit performance of The Vagina Monologues at The Broad Stage. Wendy Hammers' TV credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Sopranos' and Oprah.
