("Sorta Rican")

From  suburbia to the block to the island, Angelina embarks on a journey of cultural identity that captures the essence of one slice of the Latino-American experience.

After a childhood spent on the stage and a theater degree from Northwestern University, Angelina Villapiano never felt like she fit into traditional roles. So she decided to create her own persona - a blend of Hip Hop style with Latin flare and broad comedy - and Miss Angelina was born. Also known as Miss A, she's a rapper, singer, playwright and producer who creates her own original content.

Miss Angelina has an album release on iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify; a music web series, "¡GLOBAILE!", featured on John Leguizamo's digital platform Urbano TV; and a one-woman comedy show, "Sorta Rican", touring nationwide. She's had various television appearances, including a feature segment on "American Latino", and performances on MTV, VH1, the CW, and Miami's Plum TV. As a multicultural artist, she strives to use her voice to unite people from all walks of life.

"Sorta Rican": a one-woman hip hip comedy about a half-Puerto Rican girl and her journey of self-discovery. The show takes us from Spanish Harlem to South Beach and finally to the homeland of Puerto Rico as we meet an eccentric cast of characters through original hip hip songs and tropical Latin tunes. And tackling the question: Does your culture define who you are? Written by and starring Miss Angelina, directed by Ernie Bustamante.
